Taking vacuumed sealed food out of fridge spoils it?

So my mom who is full of old school sayings told me today that if you put something in the fridge such as "peanut butter" or …..canned food and then taking it out the next day will cause the food to spoil much much more quickly. Is this right?

Just know that just because you were taught something, even in school, does not make it right. Is there a REASON this could be true? I know "some" bacteria flourish at low temps, but then wouldn’t this bacteria die once it left the fridge?

Can you vacuum seal soft-serve ice cream to make it last longer in the freezer without becoming gritty?

I bought a quart of soft-serve ice cream from a local stand. I would like it to last about 2 months without it becoming gritty, which it will typically do after it is kept in the freezer for awhile. Would it be possible to vacuum seal it in a food-saver container to prevent it from becoming gritty and also decreasing the amount of freezer burn?

Space bags and other vacuum seal storage?

So I’m going to be going to Florida for about a year. I need to take bed sheets, towels, etc. I won’t have enough time or energy upon landing to go buy all the stuff. So I’m wondering if there are any vacuum seal bags/containers that everyone recommends, and if they are safe to take on a plane. They will be going in my checked baggage, not in carry-on bags.

Thanks!

What is a good space saving way to store clothes?

I need a neat way to store my clothes that doesn’t involve a dresser or plastic bins or vacuum bag things. Im staying in a kinda basement apartment and there’s no closet. Im trying to go for something subtle, simple, and modern. Any sites or ideas would be great :)

BED BUGS ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!! HELP!!!!!!!?

Last summer a lady that ran the daycare my kids attended came over and told me she was moving and had packed up some extra curtains and blankets and things and wanted to know if I could use them. I thanked her for bringing it and told her I’d look through it later. I put the bags on the couch and went back to do my work on the computer. I had no idea….

Later that night I noticed bugs crawling on my couch! I had never seen them before and they smelled like almonds when I killed them so I took a couple and placed them in a jar and took them to Terminex the next day and he confirmed that they were bed bugs. I couldn’t believe it. How could this happen???? I threw away ALL the bags she gave me and figured that was good enough….

Two weeks later they were ALL OVER!!!! I had to completely throw out the ENTIRE living room set that included a couch, love seat, ottoman, chaise lounge and chair. All of it, I took outside to the driveway and had hauled off. I was completely freaked out and called war on the little bastards. I took the kids to their grandparents and got to work siliconing every single crack around door frames, floor boards, and any other crack and crevice I could find. I laundered every single pillow and bedding set on all 4 beds, vacuumed relentlessly, bombed the house (and slept in my car in the front yard that night), bought Diatomicus Earth powder and dumped it all over the beds then took window plastic and duct tape and sealed all the beds, ect. I did it everything I could think of. I beat them, I thought. I thought I won. Besides, it’s not like they were actually on our beds or anything.

Here it is a 9 mos. later and things have gotten progressively worse. I continue to bomb but now they are actually in the beds and biting the kids. I noticed no one ever mentions they the live on top of your curtains in the little folds, but they do. Is that what I missed??? I didn’t wash the curtains?? Why wasn’t THAT mentioned online when I was frantic and doing what I thought was everything?? OMG, you have no idea what it’s like now. They are living in my HAIR, on my curtains, all over the carpet. ect. and the worst thing is that the vacuum broke the other day!! I am a single parent to 3 small kids so I can’t come up with thousands of dollars for a professional. Now what?? PLEASE HELP!!!! I am FAR from lazy and will ANYTHING it takes to get rid of these damn things!!! THEY ARE IN MY HAIR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

What's the best way to store dried herbs like basil and sage? How long will they last?

Planted small sage and basil plants, and they just took off.

There’s a good bit, but I’m not sure what the best way to store them is?
Don’t really have a lot of room either.

I was thinking jars maybe that I could get at walmart, but I’d probably have to get a lot.

I could grind it up, but then I’d have to clean the grinder in between grindings.

I thought about vacuum sealed bags though, they’re large and can hold a lot more than a jar, and takes up less space since the bag just surrounds the herbs.

and then there’s just plain tupperware. Like plastic containers.

What do you guys think?

i have a question about the space bags?

ok so im going back to college and i bought some space bags to pack my clothes in. I bought the flat bags and i put all my clothes in them but when i vacuumed out the air they were not as flat as it says on the box or even on the commercial. So im wondering whats the best way to pack things like jeans and bulky things like hoodies so that it is completely flat. And also when i use the vacuum is it supposed to fit completely over the valve or does it not matter.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

How to stop roaches from moving with me?

I live in a 4 family house and the people upstairs from me are giving me roaches. this has been going on for about a year and i cant take it anymore so i am moving next week. i am so happy to be leaving but scared to death of bringing them with me. i have heard some random things to try to stop this from happening and wondering if someone could let me know if these would help or what else you think may. please tell me what has and what didn’t work for you.

1.using a fogger right before i pack up and move. good or bad i heard it may just send them into more things.

2. should i have the new place treated before i go (i know there are no roaches there it was my brothers house).

3. i am afraid they may be in some appliances , laptop, desktop, playstation, alarm clock, toaster, etc.

i heard to do these things
–put in freezer … how long? how cold will kill them?
–put in oven at over 125 will kill them…will this burn or melt things at this temp?? for how long do i leave it in there? is that really hot enough?
–in a bag with co2 cartridge?
–put in bag and vacuum seal? for how long till they suffocate?
–in sunlight??
–quarantine in bags?
–use steam? will that wet the inside on my computer?

and my large furniture i don’t know what to do about table mattress etc.

thank you so much as you can see i am really serious and on a mission.
